spotify royalties calculator
Type in your streams. See a real range — not a made-up number.
Most "royalty calculators" online multiply your stream count by one hardcoded rate someone picked years ago and never updated. Spotify doesn't pay a fixed per-stream rate, so a single-number calculator is guessing. Ours isn't. Plug in your numbers below and get a transparent range based on assumptions we show you and keep current — not a black box.
how it works
Enter your monthly (or total) stream count — for the platform you're estimating — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, or a blended multi-platform total.
Tell us your deal type — fully independent (you keep 100% of the master royalty), distributed through a service that takes a cut, or signed to a label with a royalty split. This changes your actual take, not just the platform's payout.
Get a range, not a point estimate — we show you a low and high estimate based on current publicly available payout data, and explain what's driving the spread — market mix, subscriber tier, and deal terms all move the number. No fake precision.
See it next to publishing — if you're the songwriter, we flag that your streaming master royalty is only part of your income — mechanical and performance royalties from publishing are a separate pool, collected separately.
We update the underlying assumptions as better public payout data becomes available, so the ranges you see reflect current thinking rather than a number frozen from whenever the page was first built. If you want the full explanation of why there's no fixed rate, read how much does spotify pay per stream — the calculator is the "do the math for me" version of that guide.

Based on a standard major deal: label keeps ~80% of streaming master royalties. A 360 deal also takes 15–20% of live and merch — adjust your expectations accordingly. Rates shown are estimates; actual per-stream payments vary by country, subscription tier, and distributor agreement.
frequently asked questions
is this the exact rate spotify will pay me?
No — and any calculator that claims to give you an exact rate is oversimplifying. Spotify pools revenue and pays out based on your share of total streams in a given market and month, so the real number moves. This tool gives you a realistic, clearly-labeled range instead of false precision. For the full mechanics, see how much does spotify pay per stream.
why does my deal type change the estimate?
Because it does, in real life. An independent artist distributing their own music typically keeps the full master royalty share. If you're on a distributor plan that takes a percentage, or signed to a label with a negotiated royalty split, your actual payout is that base rate minus their cut. The calculator lets you model both so you're comparing apples to apples with your real contract, not a hypothetical 100%-keep scenario. For contract-specific terms, see music contracts 101 and owning your masters.
does this include publishing royalties (songwriting) too?
Not in the core streaming estimate — streaming master royalties and publishing royalties (mechanical + performance) are two separate pools paid through different systems. The calculator flags this so you don't underestimate your total income by looking at streaming alone. Read how independent artists get paid for the complete royalty picture beyond streaming.
